Instructions for CAU A4 Shift Adapter

	Stock A4 Shift Knob ready to be replaced. We recommend you Block the Tires and move the shifter into neutral or drive. This will allow you to be able to take out the "C" clamp easier to remove the knob. This kit allows you to fit the shifter with any after market shift knob or ball that will fit on any C5 6-Speed.
	There is a "C" type clip in the front of the stock shift knob almost to the bottom that you will have to pry out and then just lift off the stock knob. You can see it sticking out after we have started to remove it. You can use a very small screw driver.
	This is a PIC of the Shift knob off. You will then have to take the leather boot out from under the plastic washer. You will have to pry the leather boot with a needle nose to work the leather from under the Washer.
	This is a PIC of the leather starting to come out from under the plastic washer. There is a plastic clip holding the leather in, and you will have to pry pulling out the leather by going around the shaft.
	Once you have worked the leather out (it has a plastic clip so you will have to work on it) then push the leather down the shaft.
	Put the Spring on the Shaft before you put on the adapter. The spring will help lift the shift ball between shifts.
	Place the adapter on the shaft, and move around till it slides down. (It will sit on top of the spring) Tighten the two Allen set screws with the Allen wrench that is included. The Allen screws tighten on the rod that comes up from the shaft.
	Push the leather boot up over the larger part of the adapter, and then place the collar over the top of the leather boot. You will have to work the leather under, and the collar over. It helps to turn the collar as you are working it. Push the collar down as far as possible.
	You are now ready to install your choice of shift knob or ball. Top is a MOMO Smaller Wood Knob. Below is MOMO F-16 Carbon Fiber, and Yellow. Bottom Storm, F-16 Carbon Fiber & Cobra Carbon Fiber

Depending on the After Market knob or ball you use will depend if it is higher than your stock knob. It will usually be about 1/2" or a little more higher. You can adjust this a little by drilling most knobs or balls out a little. A number of knobs like the MOMO have a sleeve to fit into the knob so it will fit, and then are held on by Allen set screws. We have had even better success by wrapping the shaft with electrical tape until the thickness is achieved. Happy driving with your new CAU A4 Shift Adapter.
